About the Wolverine Aquatics Club
|
The Wolverine Aquatics Club(WAC) is directed by experienced professionals with backgrounds
that include many years of swimming, competition, and providing swimming instruction.
Chris and Amy are passionate about swimming and truly love the sport. It has been
an integral part of their lives and has been instrumental in their development as
people. They hope to pass their passion and love for the water onto WAC’s staff,
instructors, and participants!

Chris has enjoyed success as both a swimmer and a coach. He graduated from CSU Bakersfield
where he was an NCAA National Champion and All-American. His coaching career also
began in Bakersfield, where he coached for the Golden Empire Swim Club. After moving
to Sacramento, he coached for the Sierra Marlin Swim Team. Chris is currently the
head coach of both the Rocklin Aquatic Masters Swim Team (RAMS) and Sierra College’s
Men’s Swim Team. Chris recently received Conference Coach of the Year in 2004.

Amy also swam for CSU Bakersfield. While attending CSUB, she was an NCAA All-American,
Academic All-American, and NCAA post-graduate scholarship recipient.
Amy started teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding for the Parks and Recreation
Department as a teenager. At the age of 16, she became a California State Lifeguard
on the beaches of Southern California. She worked on the beach for approximately
6 years. Three of those years were spent as a Junior Lifeguard Instructor. As part
of that program, she taught children water safety, respect for the ocean, and basic
lifeguarding skills. She was also an open-water competitor.
After college, Amy moved to the Sacramento area to attend law school. In 2001, she
received her J.D. and was admitted to the State Bar.

Coach Tracy has been teaching children and adults of all ages to swim for years.
In addition to teaching, she coached for the Sierra Marlins Swim Team and was the
head coach of the Broadstone Barracudas for a summer season. Coach Tracy is currently
the assistant coach for the Rocklin Aquatic Masters Swim Team and has been instrumental
in starting the Wolverine Aquatics Club. She has also been a huge part of All-American
Swim Academy’s swim lesson program and clinics since 2002.
Tracy has always been an active athlete competing in tennis, running and triathlons.
Her philosophy about competitive sports is that there are life lessons to be learned
at any level, and that personal growth and individual achievement is all there is
to be attained. When anyone gives 100% personal effort, they are a success. Her
job as a coach is to encourage each swimmer to set reasonable goals and then GO
FOR IT!!!!!

Coach Jim Black began swimming for the Loomis Basin Dolphins (L.B.D.) when he was
5 years old. He continued to swim for L.B.D for 13 years and swam on the Varsity
Swim Team at Del Oro High School all 4 years. In 1999, Coach Jim received the Coaches
Award at both Del Oro and at L.B.D.
After high school, Jim attended Sierra College, where he swam for one year. He then
transferred to California State University, Monterey, where he graduated from in
2005. After graduating and traveling to Italy, Jim started coaching at Del Oro.
While at Del Oro, Jim helped lead the team to its first 1st place finish at Conference
in ten years. Since coaching for Del Oro, he has been teaching and coaching for
All-American Swim Academy and the Rocklin Aquatics Masters Swim Team. Coach Jim
is now very excited to bring a new light to the Wolverine Aquatics Club and the
