WAC Lessons - Frequently Asked Questions
Every child learns and develops at his/her own pace. Their progress in the water
depends on many factors such as:
level of fear
level of exposure to the water
familiarity with the pool and water
how well they bond with the instructor
Our advice is to be patient with your child and offer lots of praise of encouragement!

Review the levels and the skills learned and reviewed in each level. Remember that
it has likely been a while since your child’s last lesson and that he/she may need
to make-up for lost time. Your child may also need to adjust to a new instructor
or to regain his/her confidence.
The first day of each session is an “evaluation” day for each participant. This
is to ensure everyone is in correct class. If it appears that your child is not
in the proper class, we will make every effort to move them to the appropriate class
during that time slot. If one is not available, we will do our best to accommodate
you and your child. There may be some disparity between the participants in each
level, but given the small class sizes, it is usually easily worked out.
You can use the following general guidelines to select the proper lesson level:

All you need is a swim suit, a warm towel, and dry clothes to change into after
the lesson. We discourage the use of goggles or masks unless they are absolutely
necessary. In our experience, the goggles become a distraction and take a lot of
wasted time away from the lesson.
Parent/Toddler participants that are not potty-trained need to wear plastic pants
over a disposable diaper or wear a non-disposable swim diaper. Non-disposable swim
diapers can be purchased at Babies R Us or other department stores that carry swimming
accessories.

Yes, we encourage you to watch your child’s lesson. However, we ask that you do
not talk to your child during his/her lesson and that you sit away from the pool.
Your child needs this time to build a bond with his/her instructor.
